Who is Indigo Wireless?
1991
· Americell PA-3 Limited Partnership formed
· Acquired the FCC License for Rural Service Area PA-3 covering Potter, Tioga and Clinton Counties
1992
· Received $8,000,000 in financing to build a cellular network in Northern Pennsylvania
· Installed a telecommunications switch and launched service in Lock Haven, Clinton County
1993
· Built a tower overlooking Mansfield and turned on the first wireless cellular service in Tioga County
· Built a tower in Northern Tioga County overlooking Tioga
· Began selling service to local residents of Tioga County as Cellular One of Tioga through agents such as Smith's Radio Shack, Roupp's Gulf, Wheeler's Automotive as well as other small local businesses.
1994
· Cellular One of Tioga County entered into reciprocal agreements with over 300 cellular carriers in the US and Canada allowing cellular customers from these areas the ability to use their phones while traveling in Northern Pennsylvania. At the same time Cellular One of Tioga County's customers now had the ability to use their phones almost everywhere in North America.
1995
· Cellular One of Tioga County launched service in the Wellsboro area by turning on a tower south of Wellsboro on an existing tower on Goat Ranch Hill along route 287.
· Cellular One of Tioga County donated numerous phones and service to many fire departments and ambulance squads in Tioga County. The donation value just to Wellsboro was over $25,000.
1996
· When more coverage was needed in Tioga County, Cellular One worked closely with the Tioga County Commissioners. The result was a new tower on Bloss Mountain that was paid for in its entirety by Cellular One of Tioga County and then donated to Tioga County. The total cost of the Bloss tower and all of the associated construction was over $150,000. All at no cost to the taxpayers.
1997
· Cellular One of Tioga County began the process of upgrading our system to digital. A new financing facility totaling $13,000,000 was secured and Tioga County became one of the first rural areas with digital cellular service. We launched digital service here before many Pennsylvania cities such as Harrisburg and Allentown.
1998
· The upgrade to digital was completed and the first calls were made. Much of 1998 was spent learning the new digital system and optimizing our system.
· Cellular One of Tioga County opened its first store in the county in Mansfield.
1999
· The Cellular One name was used nationally until 1999 when AT&T decided to leave the Cellular One group and relabeled its service as AT&T Wireless.
· Cellular One of Tioga County improved it's coverage in Wellsboro by placing antenna on the WNBT radio tower on Park Hill. Since we did not build a new tower, the launch of our Wellsboro system went mostly unnoticed. Many local residents found that AT&T Wireless phones were now working in town and began buying phones in Williamsport and Elmira.
· Verizon Wireless built their first tower in Mansfield and began providing service in Tioga County for the first time, nearly 7 years after Indigo.
2000
· After using the Park Hill tower for 8 or 9 months Cellular One decided to move our antenna from Park Hill to Addies Knob in Wellsboro. We found that because of the higher elevation the new location provided far superior service to the borough and the surrounding area. Our antennas are still on this site today and have been for 7 years.
· Southwestern Bell and Bell South stopped using the Cellular One name and joined to become Cingular Wireless. At this point we changed our name as well from Cellular One of Tioga County to Indigo Wireless.
2001
· Indigo Wireless launched service in the Westfield area.
2002
· Indigo Wireless opened a new Mansfield store on Main St.
· Indigo Wireless focused on improving coverage in all three counties.

· Indigo Wireless now offered service from Coudersport to Factoryville along Route 6. There are some large gaps in the service from Coudersport to Galeton as well as some other smaller gaps but Indigo Wireless absolutely offers the most coverage along Route 6 in Northern Pennsylvania.
